What does Titania look like on a house?
NZ Steel says it works on traditional and contemporary homes alike. Beside TuiTuft it reads creamier, which can suit a bungalow with painted weatherboards or a newer home with warm timber.
The three-point TSR gap to Cloud sits inside the plus or minus 5% tolerance NZ Steel puts on its figures. On heat alone the three whites are level, so let your eye decide.
Rural section? Check the district plan first
Some councils control roof colour in rural landscapes. Queenstown Lakes District Council's colour guide lists Titania, with Gull Grey, among the COLORSTEEL colours it considers inappropriate in its rural zones.
Its Proposed District Plan also caps roof LRV at 20% in the Rural Residential and Rural Lifestyle zones. Titania's is 68%, so a Titania roof there would need resource consent. Anywhere in the country, a re-roof that's exempt from building consent still can't breach the district plan, so ask your council before ordering.
Our pick between the whites
If you want a pale roof that doesn't look stark, we'd shortlist Titania and hold a real sample next to TuiTuft outside, on a grey day and a sunny one. Screens can't show the warmth properly, and NZ Steel says as much about its own on-screen colours. In a rural zone, we'd ring the council first. We have no affiliation with NZ Steel; we're an independent referral service.
