What happens after you send the form?
You tell us the job
What's going on, what the roof's made of (iron or longrun, decramastic, tiles, membrane, or not sure), your postcode and how to reach you. Not sure what the problem is? Pick the closest option and describe it in your own words.
Your phone number is verified
Every homeowner's phone number is verified before their job is passed on. Until that's done, no roofer sees your job.
We match a specialist
We look for a roofer who covers your postcode, specialises in your kind of job and is Find My Roofer certified. If the job is restricted building work, that includes being licensed for it on the LBP register. If nobody suitable covers your area yet, we tell you instead of sending it to the wrong person.
The roofer gets in touch
Local roofers who take your kind of job see it, with only your first name and suburb. The first one to accept it gets your name, mobile, email and message, and contacts you to ask a few questions and arrange a look and a quote. If nobody takes it within 48 hours, roofers elsewhere in your region may see it. Your contact details only ever go to one roofer, and we never sell them.
You decide
The roofer gives you a quote, and from there you deal with them directly. There's no obligation to go ahead. If something doesn't feel right, tell us.
If water is coming in right now
Stay off the roof, especially if it's wet or windy. Put a bucket under the drip, move what you can out of the way, and keep out of any room where the ceiling is sagging. If water is near light fittings, power points or the switchboard, turn the power off at the switchboard if you can reach it safely. Our emergency roof leak guide covers the rest of tonight.
Why a specialist, and why just one?
Some job sites let several businesses contact you about the same job. That suits some people, but it can mean a busy phone and roofers racing each other instead of looking properly at your roof.
Matching each job with one roofer who specialises in that work gives them a reason to quote it properly, and gives you one conversation to manage. You can still get more quotes yourself. Consumer Protection suggests written quotes from at least three businesses where you can, and on a big job like a re-roof we'd do the same. Our quote checker helps you line them up.
What stays between you and the roofer
- The quote, the contract and every payment
- For residential building work of $30,000 or more including GST, a written contract, plus the official disclosure information and checklist before you sign
- On a smaller job, that disclosure information too, if you ask for it
- Checking the roofer on the LBP register yourself when the job is restricted building work (here's how)
- Agreeing who finds out whether your re-roof needs a building consent (our consent guide)
How do I reach you?
We're enquiry only. Jobs come in through the form, and everything else goes to info@blufire.com.au. There's no phone line, so you'll always have a written record of what was said.
If you're not sure your roof needs a roofer at all, our guides are a good place to start. We'll tell you when a job isn't worth paying for.
What we'd do before filling in the form
Jot down what you've noticed: where the water shows, when it started, whether it's worse in wind or heavy rain, and roughly how old the roof is. Take photos from the ground or from inside. A roofer who has that before they arrive can tell you far more on the first visit.
