Where do the numbers come from?
There are no roofing prices on this site, because no two roofs are alike and only a roofer who has seen yours can quote it. Where we do give a number, such as a rainfall record or a legal threshold, we name its source and don't blend sources into a figure that looks more precise than it is.
Rules come from the source: New Zealand Legislation, the Licensed Building Practitioners scheme run by MBIE, WorkSafe, Consumer Protection, the Privacy Commissioner and councils. Insurance facts come from the Insurance Council and the Natural Hazards Commission Toka Tū Ake. Weather and housing facts come from NIWA (now Earth Sciences New Zealand), Stats NZ census data, GeoNet and BRANZ.
What we won't publish
We're new in New Zealand and don't have roofers here yet, so there are no reviews, job photos or roofer stories on the site. We won't make any up, and we won't borrow them from anywhere else. The Commerce Commission says online reviews must be genuine and shown in a way that doesn't mislead, and we hold ourselves to that.
The Fair Trading Act also expects a business to have reasonable grounds for a claim at the time it makes it. If we can't back something up, it doesn't go on a page.
Advice comes before business
Nobody can buy a place in a guide or change what it says. When a job isn't worth doing, we say so. If you can safely handle something without a roofer, the guide tells you so.
We're not roofers, and we don't write as if we are. Where a job is restricted building work and needs an LBP, we say so, and we don't suggest every roofing job needs one when it doesn't.
Safety first, on every page
No page here will tell you to climb onto a roof, wet or dry. Ladders are for looking, and only if you're comfortable on one. Where a guide touches on asbestos, electrics, storms or working at height, the safety advice comes first. WorkSafe says a home built before 2000 may contain asbestos, so we write about older roofs with that in mind.
Writing for New Zealand
We use the words Kiwis use: spouting (gutters), longrun, re-roof, decramastic, butynol, building consent, code compliance certificate. Te reo Māori place names keep their macrons. Where a bill is before Parliament but isn't law yet, like the Building Amendment Bill introduced in June 2026, we say plainly that it isn't law.
Who writes and checks the pages?
Find My Roofer writes these pages, not the roofers we work with, and not any supplier or manufacturer. We're not roofers ourselves, so the substance comes from the sources rather than from anyone's opinion. Before a page goes up, every rule and figure on it is checked against the source named at the bottom of that page.
How do we keep pages up to date?
Each page carries the date of its last update.
Found something wrong or out of date? Email info@blufire.com.au with the page and what you spotted. We'll check it against the source, correct it if we got it wrong, and update the date.
