What will go on this page?
Two kinds of review. The first is Google reviews of the roofers we pass jobs to, copied word for word from each roofer's own listing, with that roofer's overall rating and number of reviews beside them so you see the whole picture.
We keep roofers' names off the site, so business and staff names in those reviews will be replaced with [square brackets]. You'll get the business name of the roofer matched to your job when we pass it on.
The second is reviews of Find My Roofer itself, from homeowners whose job we actually passed on: how quickly the roofer got in touch, whether the quote was clear, and how the job went.
Our rules for reviews
- Only genuine reviews, shown in a way that doesn't mislead, as the Commerce Commission requires
- Reviews of us only from homeowners whose job we passed on
- No payment, discount or reward for writing a review, or for changing one
- We ask every homeowner, not just the happy ones
- Critical reviews shown the same way as good ones
- Nothing from anyone connected to the roofer
- Roofers can reply, but can't have a review taken down for being negative
Reading roofer reviews elsewhere in the meantime
Google's policy bans paid reviews and bars businesses from asking only their happy customers, which helps. Even so, a star rating is a starting point, not an answer.
Look past the average. Read the worst reviews and how the business replied to them. Look for reviews that describe a real roofing job, like a re-roof or new spouting, rather than a one-line rave. And check the dates, because a roofer's crew can change over a few years.
What we'd check besides the stars
Reviews tell you how a roofer treats people. The LBP register tells you whether they're licensed for restricted building work and whether they've been disciplined in the last three years. For a re-roof or anything needing a building consent, we'd look at both. Our guide on how to check an LBP shows you where.
When will reviews appear?
Once roofers have joined and jobs are going through, the first reviews will appear here with the date and the type of job. Until then, our guide to choosing a roofer covers what to look for.
