How do you apply?
There's no online form. Email info@blufire.com.au with the details below and we'll take it from there by email. Every part of New Zealand is open to apply for.
What should you have ready?
- Your business's legal name, the name you trade under, and your NZBN or company number
- Your LBP number, licence class and areas of practice, if you're licensed
- Your registration details, if you're a registered plumber who does roofing
- Your current public liability certificate, with at least $2 million of cover, showing whose name is on it and when it runs out
- The postcodes or suburbs you'll travel to
- The jobs and roof types you take on, and the ones you don't
- For each type of job you want from us, photos plus an address or invoice for three of those jobs done in the last 12 months
What happens after you apply?
We look you up on the LBP register
If you're licensed, we check the public register: that your licence is current, its class, the areas of practice it lists, and any disciplinary history from the last three years.
We see your insurance
Whose name it's in, when it expires, and that it's public liability insurance with at least $2 million of cover.
We sort out your areas by email
Which postcodes, which jobs, which roof types, and how many new jobs a week you can handle.
We agree terms
On a call, we talk you through the price per job, how it's charged, the contract and how areas work. Nothing gets signed until you've heard all of it.
Jobs start
Once you've signed, Blufire, the company that runs Find My Roofer, sets you up with access to your jobs through its lead system. From then on we recheck your LBP status every three months where your work needs one, and ask for the new insurance certificate whenever yours renews.
Do I need to be an LBP to apply?
No, but it decides which jobs come your way. Restricted building work has to be done or supervised by an LBP licensed for it, and a non-LBP who does it without that supervision commits an offence, with a fine of up to $50,000 on conviction. So that work only goes to licensed roofers.
Two things are worth knowing. Registered plumbers are treated by law as holding a Roofing licence unless their registration is suspended or cancelled, and a Carpentry LBP can install lightweight profiled metal roofing. Tell us if either fits you.
Without a licence, you can still apply for work that isn't restricted, such as roof painting, moss treatment or clearing spouting.
How long does it take?
We aim to reply to every application email within two business days. It moves faster when your LBP record is easy to find and your insurance is in the same name as your business.
Who isn't a fit?
Anyone wanting restricted work without the licence for it, and anyone who can't show current insurance. Neither is negotiable, because we tell homeowners that every roofer they hear from through us has been checked.
We also read the complaints homeowners make after a job, and we'll talk any that come in through with you. Homeowners can see how that works on our complaints page.
Before you send it
Search for yourself on the LBP register first, the way a careful homeowner would. Make sure it shows the right class and areas of practice, and that the name matches your insurance and your business. Anything out of date is far quicker to fix now than halfway through an application.
